The BELPEARL AUCTION event organized by BELPEARL AUCTIONS (HK) LTD, resulted in an aggregated sale of approximately USD $5,040,000 with 82% of lots being sold. Spread across a 4 day span, the auction showcased 352 lots of South Sea pearls from producers from Myanmar, Indonesia and French Polynesia held prior to the UBM June Jewellery Show in Hong Kong.

Michael Hajjar, director of business development Belpearl Auctions: "Our summer auction opened with two Indonesian producers, Bima Sakti Mutiara(BSM) and Timor Otsuki Mutiara (TOM). The auction highlighted a range of pearl colors, highly lustrous, natural golden pearls." The auction also showcased the harvest of two new Tahitian pearl producers from the Tuamotu archipelago.

Hajjar continued: "Asian demand continues to drive the market for medium to high quality gold and black South Sea pearls, with Chinese buyers in particular seeking out very gold, or very dark black lots that are well sorted, and larger quantity,”

Belpearl Auctions is planning its subsequent auction following the UBM September show in Hong Kong, the auction will feature the harvest of a producers from Myanmar, Indonesia and Tahiti. The dates are tentatively set for September 17-20, 2018.
