The BELPEARL + MPE (Myanmar Pearl Enterprise) auction event organized by BELPEARL AUCTIONS (HK) LTD, resulted in an aggregated sale of approximately USD $11,777,000 with 94% of lots being sold. Spread across across a 6 day span, the auction showcased 662 lots of South Sea pearls from producers in Myanmar,Indonesia and French Polynesia held prior to the HKTDC March Jewellery Show in Hong Kong.

Mr. Michael Hajjar, director of business development Belpearl Auctions: "This is our largest and most important auction event of the year. We had a very exciting auction schedule this February, with an auction closing nearly everyday. The highlight of our auctions continues to be for fine quality, Golden pearls." When asked about the signifigance of the auction:  “The BELPEARL + MPE auction is significant in that it serves as an indicator or benchmark for the demand for Golden South Sea pearls, due to the quantity and quality. The prices that are established here in Hong Kong, become the standard by which the trade operates." 

Hajjar continued: "This year, we also launched our first ever Motupoe (Pearl Island) Auction. The Motupoe Auction will represent producers of superior quality, Black South Sea from several islands throughout the Tuamotu and Gambier Archipelagoes of French Polynesia.

“We are currently planning our upcoming auction which will be held prior to the UBM June show in Hong Kong, the auction will feature premier Indonesian producers Bima Sakti Mutiara and Timor Otsuki Mutiara and an additional new supplier to the Motupoe Auction. The dates are tentatively set for June 17-19, 2018.
